The Roman Catholic Diocese of Colorado Springs was established on January 30, 1984. It serves a territory that spans 10 central and eastern counties of Colorado. Bishop Michael Sheridan, who previously served as an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Saint Louis, became the diocesan bishop on January 30, 2003. The Diocese of Colorado Springs has 39 parishes and missions serving an estimated 186,000 Catholics.
