Create in Me a Clean Heart
Pornography hinders our relationship with Jesus and degrades the dignity of the human person. Recognizing this, in November 2015, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops published Create in Me a Clean Heart: A Pastoral Response to Pornography.
It emphasizes that we have to address pornography in order to protect children, create safer environments, help marriages and families thrive, assure that our ministries are effective, and above all, for the salvation of souls.
This comprehensive treatment of the topic of pornography addresses clergy, parents, educators, diocesan and parish leaders, mental health professionals, and those affected by pornography.
The Mission of Clean Heart Online
Create in Me a Clean Heart calls the Church to equip people with the right environments and tools to find freedom from pornography. Clean Heart Online was created as part of the answer to this call. It exists to:
- Help men, women, and young people avoid the sin of pornography and embrace freedom and life in Christ.
- Encourage the local Church to actively proclaim that freedom from pornography is possible!
- Remind people that no one needs to fight this battle alone!
Clean Heart Online was developed by Covenant Eyes, a company committed to helping people quit pornography or never start watching. Significant funding has been provided by the Archdiocese of New Orleans because of their deep desire to see the people of God restored and redeemed. Clean Heart Online provides Catholic ministry leaders, educators, and parents strategies to revitalize culture and appropriately address pornography. Both pastoral and practical in nature, this resource equips marriages and families to live with integrity online.
Many people, in the world and our local church communities, struggle to find lasting freedom from porn. With renewed vigor, Church leaders must share this hope: Jesus Christ is merciful and wants to see us free from all bondage. There is a purpose to keep fighting the battle for purity!
